Music
The Music Ministry of First Baptist
At First Baptist, we lift Jesus Christ up so He may draw all men unto Himself. We radiate His glory. We celebrate the resurrection of Christ and His great love for us. We are grateful for the ability to come before the very throne of God and speak with Him. Our hearts are full of joy, and we desire to express it through music. If you are led by the Spirit to lead worship, either vocally or with an instrument, here are some places for you to serve. We have been praying for you and look forward to working with you.
Opportunities to lift your voice
Worship Choir
Our choir leads worship in the 8:30 Sunday morning services. Rehearsals are Monday nights from 5:45-7:00 p.m. in the choir room. This choir celebrates Jesus and learns contemporary worship anthems in four part harmony. The music is challenging and spiritually rewarding.
Orchestra
Led by Renee Griffin and rehearsals are Wednesdays from 5:00-5:45 p.m. in the sanctuary. Renee loves to jazz things up, so the music she chooses for 8:30 service openers are always fun. The orchestra plays all the hymns, and sometimes it accompanies the choir anthems. This group really adds a lot to our celebration.
Praise Band
Our band plays in the 11:00 Sunday morning services and is led by Heather Mitchell. Rehearsals occur during the Sunday School hour (9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.) Members must have a good ear for various music styles as well as good intonation. This team learns music extremely quickly. Please contact Sarah Martin if you are interested in playing.
Joyful Sound
Our Senior Adult Choir, and it meets for rehearsals on Tuesday mornings from 9:45-11:00. We work hard in rehearsals, and always come away refreshed in our spirits. This choir leads worship in the 8:30 Sunday morning services, once a month. Also once a month, the group sings at a different nursing home.
